Five colleges, one voice.
The Alamo Colleges approached C2 with a Texas-sized problem:
What had historically been five separate and autonomous colleges
needed to fuse with the District Offices as one. And a new website
was going to be the marketing glue that held them together.
Did we mention that The Alamo College system is one of the nation's
largest community colleges? No pressure, right?
The Glitz
We immediately rolled up our sleeves and and got to
work. Extensive on-site research, interviews with a wide range of
constituencies, and in-depth discovery sessions combined with a
collaborative design process to create the new look. In the end, we
leveraged the strength of the Alamo brand and the power of the
Ektron CMS400.NET to unify the schools, while still allowing each
to stand proudly on its own.
The Guts
Ektron's CMS shines in the Alamo environment. The same
templates are leveraged across each college's pages.
Workflows govern content creation. Permissions keep the right
people focused on the right pages. I.T. can shed worrying
about content. Admissions folks can focus on recruiting.
We love it when a plan comes together.
What we did
- Design provides differentiation for each school, while unifying
under one set of standards.
- The site is highly 508 compliant without sacrificing any
marketing "pop".
- Mission accomplished: The Alamo Colleges brand unifies the site
while each school displays its own look and feel.
- Common .ASPX templates allow unified messaging and allow for
easy cross training of content administrators
- Content managers control both content and core functionality,
tailoring messages and page function for a variety of
audiences.
