As one of the nation’s 25 largest school districts, PGCPS teamed up with The C2 Group to rollout a redesigned and personalized PGCPS.org website experience on the Episerver platform for students, staff, families, and the community.
With nearly 19,000 employees and more 130,000 students, PGCPS has always had a focus for empowering its students and the classroom. But as digital has become a more prominent tool as parents assess their children’s schooling options, PGCPS recognized its legacy content management system, Ektron, could be better at providing a more engaging experience and attracting interest for its unique learning opportunities, including arts integration, environmental and financial literacy, and language immersion.
PGCPS needed a solution that would provide more intuitive navigation and accurately tell the PGCPS brand story while also displaying the culture of its individual schools. While the redesign took precedence, it was equally important that the CMS be easier for individual school web teams to add, update, monitor, and remove content from the website while adhering to brand guidelines.
Built on Episerver, the new PGCPS district website design uses video, multi-language support, and responsive design to create a memorable and highly usable web experience. Leveraging a branded design system, a structured set of pages and blocks can be customized with each individual school’s logo, colors, and metadata to provide a more personalized experience and hub for school-specific resources. With out-of-the-box personalization and advanced search, PGPCPS now has the ability to tailor content to each of its audiences and get them to the information they need, when they need it. Google calendar integrations and text message and email alerts allow the district to deliver relevant information to parents, staff, and students quickly.
